Science Bowl

Congratulations to our Team A, who placed FIRST at the regional event, against very tough competition from schools like Bellarmine, Harker, and Saratoga. They will be attending the national event, which will be from April 26th to April 30th.

Science Bowl is a team contest offered by the US Department of Energy. The format is speed-based; a question is read and the first person to press his or her buzzer earns the right to answer.

Questions are equally distributed in 6 categories, Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, Energy, Mathematics, and Physics.

There are four teams, although only one or two will likely participate in the actual contest. The teams are as follows:

  • Team A:   Alexandra Cong, Derek Lou, Johnny Ho, Keegan Mendonca, -Marcus Schorow
  • Team B: -Aaron Yuan, James Ma, Jeffrey Jiang, Julia Huang, Steven Hao
  • *Team C: Achilles Kanaris, Eloy Fernandez, -Julia Huang, Qingqi Zeng, Oliver Dong
  • *Team D: Minyu Wang, Matt Wang, Dolly Yuan, -Kevin Chen, Derrick Du

Regular practices are mandatory for all teams, especially teams A and B, which will practice at least once a week until the contest with additional outside studying required.
