Glass experiment

Today Tony and Steven demonstrated how to melt glass with strong oxyacids. They did a demonstration in which they placed glass items in the acid, and let it quickly dissolve. The video is below:

In reality, the glass didn’t melt or disappear. It simply became hidden in the oil due to the extremely close indexes of refraction of Pyrex glass and cooking oil.
